The Sitting — autumn
A long afternoon in Grasse. Not “what do you like” but what your childhood kitchen smelled of, which coat you cannot throw away, the room you write in. Célestine takes nine pages of notes and no orders.
The Essays — winter
Three numbered essays arrive by courier, worn a fortnight each, discussed by letter. Most commissions turn on essay two; the notebook is consulted; someone always cries a little.
The Sealing — after the year
The chosen formula matures twelve months, is bottled in a flacon engraved with your cipher, and the recipe is sealed into the maison ledger. Recharges for life; the formula, for one life only.
